Snyder signs extension
Three-years, 14.25 million. Snyder was worth ~12 million last season, 9 million in 2007, and a little over four million in 2005 and 2006 combined. Snyder’s bat is pretty good, and entering arbitration for the second year, you would’ve expected ~7 million to his head way. This appears to be an excellent coup for Arizona.

Yeah, very nice deal for the D-Backs. Snyder will probably be worth around +2-2.5 wins next season and he’ll be getting paid like a +1 win player. Not bad.

Also, forgot to ask: Does anyone know what his defense is like? I seem him play 10 or so times a year but I can only remember him for hitting homers.

He was about average blocking the ball
Saved .73 runs.
Montero didn’t have enough opportunities to qualify, but he was at -5 per 120 games.

His defense is better than his backup, Montero
The Red Sox would be wise to call up Arizona and work out a deal for Montero. The Red Sox have the pitching to deal away and the fact Arizona gave Travis Blackley a deal shows they need pitching.

Very nice deal
He should have gotten much more, he was only two years from being a FA.
