Branyan--->Mariners
Geoff Baker's post at the Seattle Times.
Fans of teams with competent front offices might see the reaction of the M's blogosphere and think we've all got a bit nutty, but these are the kinds of signings we've been wanting the team to make for at least seven years. Branyan is F.A.T. and F.A.T. is something Bavasi had absolutely zero concept of.
Dave at USSM and Jeff at LL do a much better job than I could of summing up why this is exciting for a lot of us. He's not going to set the world on fire and he could very well fall off a cliff, but the M's didn't have to give up Asdrubal Cabrera, Shin-Soo Choo or Chris Snelling to get him. Baby steps.

Great sign.
I really like how the USSM/LL crew is analyzing early moves as indicators of the whole package down the road. Nothing so far has greatly improved the team, but every decision has had a good process and there haven’t been any dumb moves.
Beyond the Boxscore // Calling BJ Upton lazy is lazy.
LL/USSM deserve a good FO and therefore a good team.

I almost read that as "shot by a bus"
Weird.

He hit a few shots as a Ray.
The season that Greg Norton and Branyan split time at DH was interesting.

I kind of hope we see that same platoon in Seattle.

Symbolism is funny like that.
I can’t wait until you guys trade for Edwin Jackson like we did.

You know how I feel about Edwin Jackson.
I know it’s dumb and you know it’s dumb. Don’t make me make myself look dumb.
