Random SQL fact: Brandon Backe gave up 36 homeruns this season. That's more than Milton Bradley and Michael Young hit combined last season. Yet, it's not even the worst gopherball season since 2000. Would you believe that five pitchers have given up more than 40? Here's a look:
Jose Lima 2000 48 HRA

I find myself forgetting just how bad Jose Lima was at times, then I remember this chart from a Baseball Prospectus article a few years ago, and it all makes sense again:
