If you were the Sox G.M.
What would you do as Red Sox G.M. now that Edgar Renteria has been dealt for Andy Marte? Personally, here is my to-do list:
- Trade Mike Lowell to the Twins for Kyle Lohse and J.C. Romero, like Aaron Gleeman has been advocating forever now.
- Play Kevin Youkilis at third base until Andy Marte is prepared for the everyday job.
- Shift Mark Loretta to shortstop if possible at this stage in his career (he last played there in 2003)
- Re-sign Tony Graffanino to play second base or if Oakland is still interested in David Wells, attempt to snag Marco Scutaro in the deal, even if it means adding a minor leaguer. That is just thinking though, there is nothing behind that statement. Graffanino is a league average defensive shortstop in his career by the way.
What would you do if you were Red Sox G.M.? That is not a complete list by me by the way; just an attempt to fix the infield.

Play Pedroia
If they keep the OF largely as last year (or end up swapping Trot/Clement for Abreu), they can afford one weak bat. Cora would also be an acceptable defensive SS. Machado is another possibility
The Sox have more SS prospects in the minors. I hope they don't trade signficant value to get a SS.

Keep trading
- Trade: Red Sox get Kotchman and Cabrera from the Angels, Quentin from the Diamondbacks; Angels get Manny Ramirez and David Wells from the Red Sox; Diamondbacks get Ervin Santana and a mid pitching prospect from the Angels.
- Re-sign Damon to a reasonable contract (4 years is absolutely top!)
- get a freaking left reliever, DiNardo alone won't cut it. How could you not offer arbitration to Myers?!?
C: Varitek
1B: Kotchman
2B: Loretta
3B: Lowell
SS: Cabrera
LF: Quentin
CF: Damon
RF: Nixon
DH: Papi
Youk could rotate with both Kotchman AND Lowell making him get a significant number of at bats. At mid season I expect both Pedroia and Marte to be knocking at the door in Boston so I would make some more deals.
whoa
quite a bit?
can his son hit?
